THIS WEEK: Saturday Community Talk by Jakuryu

Talk will be given by Tom Jakuryu (寂龍) Huffman, a student of Kwong-roshi, following 10:30 am zazen. Open to the public.

About Speaker

Tom Jakuryu Huffman has been a student of Jakusho Kwong-roshi since 2008 and received Jukai from him in 2012. Since that time, he has worked as a Land Steward at Genjo-ji where the 81 acres of mountains, meadows and creeks has stewarded him. Over the course of his career, he worked as a medical photographer, as an alpha member and caretaker of a large pack of hand raised gray wolves, as a landscaper, as a salt pond water master, and as a lands manager. The last 25 years of his career were spent with California Department of Fish & Game restoring industrial salt ponds and diked Baylands back to tidal salt marshes around northern San Pablo Bay. Jakuryu lives outside the town of Sonoma with his master weaver wife of 47 years, Ellen, and their 3 cats.
