NEXT WEEK: 5-Day Rakusu Sewing Workshop for Everyone

morning samu 9:00 am –12:00 noon & afternoon samu 1:30–3:30 pm
including all evenings 7:00–9:00 pm

Sewing each stitch we recite, “I take refuge in the Buddha,

I take refuge in the Dharma, I take refuge in the Sangha.”

Taking refuge in the Buddha Family is “receiving the precepts.”

This Rakusu Sewing Week is an important preparation, first of all, for the Jukai recipients for the Jukai Ceremony on November 9, 2024.

A rakusu is “bib-like” garment worn around the neck symbolic of Buddha’s robe. If you are not able to finish your rakusu you must finish it at home. You have two months prior to the Jukai Ceremony to finish the rakusu and be guided if you need help by Kashin in any sewing questions.

Anyone who wants to donate, help or repair their rakusu are all welcome.

We are going back to the root of our origin and once again share the Jukai ceremony with our great sangha.”
