THIS WEEKEND: Summer Temple Stay

Temple stay is an opportunity to experience authentic Soto Zen Buddhism, its lifestyle, rituals and spirituality. Take the backward step, sit down and illuminate the jewel within yourself.

During a temple stay, visitors can rest in the calm, restorative environment of Sonoma Mountain Zen Center. A stay at our center is a unique retreat into a spiritual sanctuary surrounded by natural beauty. We are located in the heart of Sonoma County, overlooking the Valley of the Moon on the northern slope of Sonoma Mountain. This rural setting is filled with redwood forests, oak groves, and sweeping vistas. During your stay, you can join in the meditation periods, services, and communal meals of our daily temple life or spend time alone reading, writing, or hiking. In addition to walking trails on our grounds, North Slope Regional Park and Jack London State Park are a close driving distance from the center.

This special program includes oryoki instruction and meditation instruction. View Temple Stay Schedule

NEXT FRIDAY: July Fusatsu Ceremony

Be present for & experience the Fusatsu At-one-ment Ceremony

Atonement Ceremony is a Buddhadharma training—blessing from the teacher and a ritual of chanting, bowing, purification, and renewal of vows/direction. Traditionally practiced on the full moon, Fusatsu is one of the most beautiful and profound ceremonies in the Zen tradition. Together, we acknowledge our karmic entanglements and hindrances, at-one for the beginningless greed, anger, and ignorance—restoring harmony and happiness.

7:30–8:00pm Zazen / 8:00–9:00pm Ceremony

In order to continue to offer these programs and ensure the future of SMZC, we are asking for your support. Your donation is tax deductible. Sonoma Mountain Zen Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax ID #23-7304793
