Daily zazen periods are open to the public (see schedule)!

SMZC's Winter Practice Period continue on this month. Drop-ins are welcome: Come & join us in practice. If you live within driving distance, come sit in the zendo. Please support our practice community by donating to the Winter Practice Period.

 

To attend all Winter Ango events on site or online, register via the Winter Practice Period page. Please email your commitment form to office@smzc.org. Shuso will contact you to set up an interview to support your practice.

  • Oryoki meals will be provided by request (email office).

  • Zen Dust Store will be open 12:00 - 1:30 pm.

 

About Shuso

Mitchell travelled from the east coast to the west after finishing college to be a student at San Francisco Zen Center in 1977. He was a resident at the city center and later at Green Gulch Farm until 1987. After returning to school to complete graduate studies at UC Berkeley in 1990, he established a career as a fluvial geomorphologist restoring rivers throughout California. Mitchell met Kwong-roshi in 2008 and received jukai a year later. He currently resides with his wife in Sonoma Valley at the foot of Sonoma Mountain.
