Online Zazen Reflection

At home or in the office every day at 3:30 pm, I take a break and have a drink of pure water. It's like a gulp of fresh air after a day's work, calling me to this moment. First there was the sound of a hologram of peace, harmony, curiosity, gentle presence without a trace, freedom. Later thought: how good it would be to stay in it, a better life.... I came back.

I have been practicing since 2009 in a Polish sangha in Warsaw under the leadership of Uji Mikołaj Markiewicz. I met Kwong-roshi for the first time in 2009 at a retreat in Poland, and this is how my “zen adventure” began. In 2014 I was at SMZC for three months and have been mentally connected with this unique place. As soon as an opportunity to participate and practice online became available, I was very grateful.

SMZC Sangha Treasure

Our deep gratitude goes to the following donors this summer:

Erik Zenjin Shearer in Napa, CA for donating a zendo camera and laptop so that we can continue to practice together online via zoom and offer online programs in the zendo. Zenjin has been a student of Kwong-roshi and a member since 2012.

Lizbeth Myoko Hamlin in Santa Rosa, CA for donating a yearly subscription fee for Adobe Creative Suite software so that we can continue to create email newsletters, update our website, and send out fundraising materials. Myoko has been a student of Kwong-roshi and a member since 2014.

Carol Adams in Santa Rosa, CA for donating a new iMac desktop computer to replace a several-year old iMac. Carol has been our newest resident since July and a member since March 2021.
