We are also pleased to announce that we are working on recently filmed conversations between Roshi and Nyoze that will be available in the beginning of 2021. These intimate conversations between our Abbot and Vice Abbot shine light on the urgency and the extreme importance of returning to the ground-of-being as our daily practice during these challenging times. They also illuminate the minds of Roshi and Nyoze as they talk about the importance of actualizing the Spirit of Zen in our everyday lives.
As health and safety being our top priority, we are envisioning to fully open for regular programming such as personal retreats, guest practice, sesshins, special events and group hosting later next year. In the meantime, come up for a walk on the land, enjoy the beauty of Sonoma Mountain and its peacefulness, or contact our office and volunteer to help with the many tasks that sustain this sacred practice place.
Furthermore, we have implemented safety guidelines and protocols in accordance with CDC and state requirements for our residents, volunteers and registered outdoor visitors. These steps will ensure a safe environment for our Sangha and the wider community when we reopen as well.
Countless students and sangha members over the years have continued to work on SMZC’s Mandala Temple Building Project—Sangha Cabin renovation, raising our new Agricultural Building, installing ADA compliant pathways and the construction of our new water and fire systems are nearing completion to name a few. With the help of members and volunteers, many of our old hand-crafted cabins made from old recycled materials in the 70’s have been demolished and laid to rest.
Because of your generosity, the financial sacrifice of the Kwong family and SMZC’s resident staff, we were able to navigate through this difficult and trying year. At the same time, we know that our financial challenges are very serious in the coming year, and your continued support is critical at this time for our existence and survival.
To clarify this very life is the most important! May the activity of giving itself go beyond and illumine all things to shine in their own true brilliance. Thank you for your continued support.
In Gratitude with Three Bows,
