Sept 27: Fall Workfest
8:30am – 4pm
All Sangha members, families, and friends are invited to come for a day of fun and work in the spirit of traditional "barn-raising" effort and together action. Snacks and delicious lunch provided.

Sept 27: Saturday Kids Community
10:30am-12:30pm
This program is an opportunity for Sangha members and friends to introduce their children to the Zen Center in a fun and creative way. Supervised, age-appropriate activities introduce children to the Zen Center as a fun, safe, nurturing environment. Children can join their parents for an informal vegetarian lunch following activities. Parents are welcome to join in the fun along with their children or participate in Fall Workfest.

Oct 2-5: Bodhidharma 3-Day Sesshin
Sesshin, literally "to touch the Mind," is a period of time set aside for an intensive meditation retreat to let go of the conditioned self in order to resume our original nature.  Begins Thursday, Oct 2nd, 7:30 pm, and ends Sunday, Oct 5th, 5 pm.  10 periods of zazen daily, 2 hours work practice, 3 oryoki meals, dharma talks, and interviews with Kwong-roshi.
Non-Members: $60 per day/overnight  General M: $50   Practicing M: $40

Oct 14 - Dec 9: Fall Study Group
Every Tuesday, 7:30 - 9 pm
Investigating and "turning our radiance inward" through Zen practice, we begin to discover what our mind really is.  Jakusho Kwong-roshi and Shinko Kwong will be lecturing and leading discussions.  Book will be second half of Bendowa: The Wholehearted Way by Shohaku Okumura. This will be a six-week course.
Non-Members: $60/$12 per class    General M: $55   Practicing M: $50

Oct 25: Sangha Potluck
All members should save the date for this important gathering.
The sangha hasn't assembled since the Council Process.  We will engage in activities and discussions based around common direction and maybe a few laughs.
Bring your favorite ready-to-eat dish to share.

Sewing Workshop - Buddha's Robes According to Dharma: May 8-15

This workshop explores the Self through the traditional practice of sewing called nyoho-e. Taking the backwards step with each stitch we manifest the mind-to-mind transmission of our ancestor’s going back to Shakyamuni Buddha. The sewing tradition of nyoho-e has been passed down from Kodo Sawaki-roshi’s and Eko Hashimoto’s lineage. Both teachers strongly emphasized returning to the simple ancient ways of practice. Under the same lineage and spirit, Tomoe Katagiri (Katagiri-roshi’s wife) has been a close friend of Kwong-roshi and the Kwong family since the early 60’s and has taught okesa sewing at Sonoma Mountain Zen Center.
